Sinopsis:

La nueva versión cinematográfica del mito de Orfeo y Eurídice basada en la adaptación de Vinicius de Moraes, sitúa la acción en el Rio de Janeiro de los 90, entre la brillantez y sensualidad del carnaval y el clima de violencia de las favelas dominadas por los capos de la droga. La banda sonora está igualmente puesta al dia, con música original de Caetano Veloso (y otros temas seleccionados por el propio Caetano). Sin buscar comparaciones con la histórica versión dirigida por Marcel Camus, la dramática historia de amor entre el sambista admirado (protagonizado por el cantante Tony Garrido) y la ingenua joven de provincias (Patrícia França) mantiene toda la fascinación del mito.
